I’ll be playing records in the First Avenue VIP room on Friday night starting around 10 pm. The event is Let’s Get Electric, and the theme is dance music for rap record nerds. Expect to hear ’80s electro, Miami Bass, Disco sans strings, Cameo, Midnight Star, and more. Personally, I’ll be taking the early shift, since I have class at 8am Saturday morning, and playing a lot of obvious things that will be mixed better later in the evening.

Frankly, your best bet would be to skip my set, have one more cocktail, and show up to hear my esteemed colleagues later on. LGE! will feature appearances from Mike the 2600 King (Litterthugz, Burlesque, Twelve Car Pileup), Dj Nikoless (aka Kevin Beacham of Rhymesayers and Redefinition Radio), King Otto (Run Ya Jewels, RSE Radio), Espada and Jimmy Two Times. Cover is $3-6 depending on who you believe. Enter through the side door on 1st.
